                                             A message from David Boyle,
                                                our Associate Pastor…

Hello there! Welcome to the St. Luke’s Gondola Point
Web Page! I’m glad you’ve taken the time to look around
our website – I hope you’ll discover that we have lots to
                                             offer!

As Associate Pastor and Church Army Captain, I am pleased that you are taking the time to search things out. As one who is keenly interested in the spiritual growth of each person, and who seeks to bring people closer to Jesus so that they may have a personal relationship with Him, I am encouraged to know you are earnestly looking into things.

Whether you are a committed Christian, or simply exploring what Jesus and God have to offer you, you are likely on a journey where you are seeking truth, meaning and value – and perhaps you are hoping that Jesus has some answers! Certainly we all can look around us at times and wonder if there really is any purpose to life. There are moments in everyone’s life when we come to a place where life just doesn’t seem to make much sense. One look at the papers or the news on TV and we can see the mess that the world seems to be in. We begin to question ourselves and society’s values. We become confused as to where we are on ‘life’s roadmap’, and we start to wonder if we’re even heading in the right direction. As a community of faith, St. Luke’s has come to see that God does have a plan, and that through His Son Jesus, He has provided for a way for us to come ‘home’. Let me invite you to come join us on this journey, and we can travel together on this road ‘home’, living life to its fullest along the way!

So with this invitation extended, let me describe to you what our church family is like…
Having been built and established as a ‘chapel of ease’ in 1833, St. Luke’s Gondola Point consisted of mainly farmland and very few people. Today, St. Luke’s is a church and parish in its own right, and the town of Quispamsis is quickly growing up around it (one of the fastest growing areas in the province!). This provides St. Luke’s with a rather unique perspective and role within the community. As one of the stalwarts and historical landmarks within the town (it is designated a Heritage building), the parish carries a warm and country-like atmosphere that appeals to the suburban life of the town around it. It is seen as a beacon of peace and stability in an area and time of change. Thus our role and significance in the community is integral – as a place that can serve the community with love and care, providing encouragement and direction for those seeking meaning, and serving as a ‘meeting place’ for events and activities. St. Luke’s has much to offer the community (and much more that could be offered as people come and get involved!). Currently you will see St. Luke’s hosting programs for youth and children (Sunday School, Youth Group, Vacation Bible Camps, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts), offering community events and services (Dinners, Picnics, Community Events, Choral Services, Memorial and Celebration Services), and organizing social and social action programs (such as Anglican Church Women, Quilter’s Club, Scrapbooking Club, and efforts and events that support projects like the Quispamsis Food Bank, the Canadian Bible Society, World Vision, Saint John Community Chaplaincy, etc.).

This brief overview shows that St. Luke’s offers much to the community and the person seeking a place of worship and belonging. I hope you will feel comfortable to come in and journey with us so that we may seek a deeper walk with Jesus together.
